#FrenchBride n°21 - Hélène
In a wonderful dress inspired by the Roaring Twenties, the elegant Hélène said "Oui!" to Rémy in the gorgeous Château de Bois le Roi in Nailly. These magical moments were shot by Juliette Malveau. Hélène tells us everything below!
Rémy and I met for the fist time in a restaurant. I had invited some friends and one of them asked me if he could come with someone. At that time Rémy was working as an expat in Africa and didn't come back often to France, so I agreed. It was love at first sight!! Nothing happened this first time because Rémy had to go back to work in Africa but when he came back, it was impossible not to kiss ☺ Our love story started then! Six months after a long-distance relationship, he decided to return to France for me and we moved in very quickly.
At home, quietly and with a knee to the floor like in movies!
A French bride for you is...
An elegant and chic woman.
Your dress and style
I really like how women dressed in the Roaring Twenties. I wanted a bit of a “Great Gatsby” wedding but my husband doesn't really like things that are too glittery and tacky. So I kept the decoration pretty sober but I treated myself to a wonderful dress made of silk, pearls and Swarovski crystals. I also wanted a sophisticated bun as I’ve always considered it magnificent and perfect to enhance an open back. I have always dreamed more of a fitted dress than a princess dress.
We rented the Château de Bois le Roi in Nailly (near Sens) for two days. My husband and I love large and open spaces. We therefore wanted a reception in a castle but a castle with a simple architecture. We also love nature and had imagined for our wedding a large park and vegetation so we immediately had a crush on this place.
For the decoration, we opted for the theme “bucolic and chic”. I like flowers very much so our wedding was full of them. I wanted a refined wedding with a touch of nature.
The most wonderful moment of the day
I loved my wedding day - it was amazing. We got married on June 3rd, 2017 and I'm still nostalgic today! My wedding was really the happiest day of my life, as well as the birth of my children. There were so many magical moments but if I had to chose just one, I would say my arrival at the town hall with all my family and my friends which had traveled all the way for us. It was a very emotional moment. When my husband looked at me, I saw in his eyes that he found me beautiful. He was dazzled… We cried a lot but there were only tears of happiness.
Two days after our wedding, we flew to the Caribbean to visit the islands of Saint Lucia and Martinique for almost three weeks. We loved both places.
