#Inspiration - Mathilde Marie
A perfect balance between vintage vibes and modernity, fluidity and accuracy, simplicity and elegance, Mathilde Marie’s creations are just irresistible!
Mathilde Marie’s creations are soft, timeless and so elegant. In Mathilde’s dresses, you can feel her love for old laces and vintage treasures. The designer likes drawing contemporary gowns, where subtle details of yesteryear mingle with the taste of today.
Pure lines and delicate finishing touches are her signature. Mathilde shapes the silhouette to reveal an elegant, strong, modern as well as timeless bride.
She first worked in children's fashion as a designer and model, while designing stage costumes for dance, theater and film projects. By coincidence, she plunged into the wedding world when friends asked her to create their dresses. As she loved the very strong relationship developed with the bride-to-be, she decided to launch her eponymous brand in 2013.
Each season Mathilde reveals a dozen creations reflecting her delicate and assertive universe. She always looks for the unique combination of highest quality materials and traditional know-how to bring women out on their wedding day. The laces, from either Puy or Calais-Caudry, follow the curves with elegance, the muslin veils or unveils while the skirts fall with a modern drape… Nothing is left to chance.
The designer welcomes her brides-to-be in her showroom – which is her workshop too - in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, near the François Mitterrand library. Retro and modern at the same time, this wonderful place is just like the collections. Mathilde loves listening and advising every bride-to-be in this warm and peaceful atmosphere to design a unique dress that fits her perfectly.
The 2020 collection is inspired by cinema and literature: like the heroine of its own story, each dress is imagined as a tale where the bride meanders in the streets of Paris before resting in a bar with Art Deco accents.
What I love in the brand is the perfect balance between vintage vibes and modernity, fluidity and accuracy, simplicity and elegance as well as Mathilde’s love for old laces. For sure, you will fall under the spell of her timeless creations.
